Acrylic Tolerance

ACRYLIC TOLERANCE

Use this guide to help you select the perfect acrylic thicknesses and see how they compare to one another.

What is Acrylic Tolerance? Tolerance as it relates to engineering is the amount of variation a product can have before its no longer deemed functional. In the plastic world it means the amount in which your certain size or thickness can be ‘off’ by.

You must keep tolerance in mind when selecting the thickness of your acrylic sheets. Different manufacturers or brands tend to vary in sheet thickness.

Extruded acrylic can have tolerance of +/- 3%, while cast acrylic can have a tolerance of +/- 10%.

These are general guidelines for thickness tolerances on plexiglass/acrylic sheets. Exact thickness tolerances will vary by manufacturer
